Our Homes
Abrigo Homes offers supported accommodation in small, shared houses designed specifically for looked after children and care leavers aged 16–25. Our homes are calm, welcoming spaces where young people can feel safe, settle, and begin to build the confidence and skills they need for independent living.
A Home-Like Setting for Independence
A Small, Homely Setting
We believe young people thrive best in environments that feel like real homes, not institutions. Our current provision supports up to two young people at any one time, allowing us to create a family-style atmosphere with plenty of individual attention. The house is comfortably furnished, warm and age-appropriate, so residents can relax, socialise and feel proud of where they live.
Property Description
Our current home is a two-bedroom property carefully set up for shared living. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and a bathroom with a toilet, bath and shower. Downstairs, there is a large lounge where young people can spend time together or meet with staff, and a fully equipped kitchen that opens onto a good-sized rear garden. The layout and design are intended to be practical, comfortable and welcoming, reflecting the needs and interests of the young people who live there.
A Therapeutic and Nurturing Environment
The atmosphere in our homes is intentionally therapeutic and nurturing. Staff are present to offer reassurance, guidance and everyday emotional support, while also encouraging appropriate levels of independence. We aim to create a space where young people feel listened to, respected and understood, and where they can begin to rebuild trust and stability in a safe environment.
Shared Living and Positive Relationships
Living with others is an important part of preparing for adulthood. Our homes promote positive, respectful relationships between young people and staff, with clear expectations around boundaries, privacy and shared responsibilities. We support residents to develop social skills, manage conflict appropriately and contribute to the running of the home, helping them build confidence in group living.
A Space to Learn Independence
The home is also a practical space for learning. Young people are supported to use the kitchen for cooking sessions, manage their own rooms and take part in household tasks such as cleaning and laundry. Staff work alongside them rather than doing everything for them, so they gain real-life experience of running a home before moving on to their own tenancy.
Connected to the Community
Although our homes are quiet and safe, they are also well placed for accessing local amenities and community resources. Young people are encouraged and supported to use nearby shops, parks, leisure centres, colleges, youth groups and places of worship. This helps them feel part of the community and builds the confidence they need to navigate life beyond supported accommodation.
Consistency, Safety and Belonging
We carefully match each young person with a key worker to promote consistency and trust within the home. Clear routines, house agreements and support plans help everyone understand what to expect, contributing to a sense of safety and belonging. Our aim is that every young person who stays with us feels that Abrigo Homes is not just where they live, but a secure base from which they can grow and move towards independence.
