How We Support Different Needs
Every young person is unique, so we provide a variety of support models and living arrangements to ensure their individual needs, risks and goals are properly met.
Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
Abrigo Homes offers safe, stable accommodation and support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children and young people. We understand the particular vulnerabilities faced by UASC, including separation from family, trauma, language barriers and uncertainty about their future. Our staff provide practical help with day-to-day living, support to access legal representation and asylum advice, and assistance with health, education and language learning. Above all, we offer a calm, nurturing environment where young people feel respected, listened to and treated with dignity, whatever their background.
Floating Support with Accommodation
Our floating support with accommodation service is designed for young people who are either living in our properties or moving towards their own tenancy and still need a planned level of support. We provide flexible, targeted keywork sessions focused on practical independence – such as managing bills, benefits and appointments – as well as emotional support, routines and community links. Support can be stepped up or down depending on need, helping young people to gain confidence and stability while gradually taking greater responsibility for their own lives and accommodation.
Group Living
Putting Young People First
Our Approach
At Abrigo Homes, our approach is built around each young person as an individual. We combine a warm, homely environment with structured, personalised support so they can move from care into independent adult life with confidence.
Young Person–Centred and Rights-Based
We place each young person’s rights, views and choices at the centre of our work. From arrival, they are involved in decisions about their support and receive a clear Young Person’s Guide so they understand their entitlements and how their voice will be heard.Holistic and Therapeutic Support
We support the whole person, recognising the impact of past experiences and trauma. Our homes are calm and nurturing, and young people have access to everyday emotional support as well as support to access external mental health services where needed.Building Independence and Life Skills
Our focus is on helping young people develop the skills and confidence needed for independent living. We work alongside them as they learn to manage daily tasks, money, routines and tenancy responsibilities at a pace that feels safe and realistic.Personalised Planning and Key Working
Support is tailored, not generic. Each young person has an individual plan, and a carefully matched key worker who offers consistent one‑to‑one support, helping them set goals, track progress and make informed decisions about their future.Wellbeing at the Heart of Our Work
Mental and physical health are central to everything we do. Staff are trained to notice early signs of difficulty, offer calm, non‑judgemental support and work with health services to ensure young people get the help they need.Education, Employment and Positive Futures
We actively promote engagement in education, training and employment. Young people are supported with college or course applications, CVs, job search and interview skills, with extra help for those who are currently NEET.Family, Community and Positive Relationships
Where safe and appropriate, we encourage and support family contact and other significant relationships. We also help young people connect with their community through social, leisure, cultural and religious activities that matter to them.Safe, High-Quality Practice
Our work is underpinned by strong safeguarding, clear procedures and thorough risk assessment. We invest in continuous staff training and regular quality reviews so that young people receive safe, respectful and consistently high‑quality support.
Home, Support, Future
Abrigo Homes offers more than a roof over someone’s head. We create a stable home, provide consistent emotional and practical support, and help young people build the skills and confidence they need for a positive, independent future.
